We headed out to Rocky ford Creek this morning at 4am, excited to try out my new net that actually shows the length of the fish caught. What a great day to have this. I ended the day with by far my biggest rainbow ever and second biggest. One was I am guessing 30" (it was too big for the 28" scale on the net) one 27" that was damn near as round as a football, a 22", 21", 18" and a 16". My buddy hooked a handful but only was able to get one to the shore.

Were all the fish caught while sight fishing? I have never been to the Rock. But looks to be a small creek, with monster fish. Seems like a silly question, but do these fish pull hard for there size? What weight of fly rod was needed to land these fish?

FlyBum - i will send you a PM this evening.

Moto - yes and no with the sight fishing, I wander around the creek shore looking for access (no wading allowed) if i see channel or a flat where fish are cruising i will fish there depending on depth, current, weeds, wind, sunlight i pick my fly and start casting. this year was definitely and exception for the size of fish, i usually go with my 4wt for my floating line and a 5 for my sink tip. The wind was supposed to pick up so i brought my 8 wt to cast through the wind, glad i did this trip.
