Wow, I would not have thought it would be slower today than last week, especially after the fish counts at the baker river. One fish caught on the bar all morning between 17 rods, no others on. I hope it picks up soon.

I was out on Young's Bar in the morning of 7/1. Of the 15 or so anglers on the bank, there were only two fish caught. A lot of people there were blaming it on the nets. Rumor has it that the nets are pulled out for the time being so hopefully fishing picks up.

A lot of ppl blame the nets for poor fishing. I personally see it differently. With only a few hundred passing by in a day it would be luck and not skill that puts fish in the box. I caught sockeye on the skagit every year it has opened but every time I consider myself lucky as everyone was doing the exact same thing just happen to hit my lure instead of others. I can't stress enough that these fish do not hold in the river. They are shooting straight to the lake so while the trap numbers are high I wouldn't consider the numbers in the river being high epically with only a few schools passing by in a day. With a little under two weeks of fishing left in the river I would start looking into taking a trip to baker. They seem to bite better as they have slowed down tremendously now that they've reach their destination.
