My uncle and I decided to head up to the Samish to test if there were a fair amount of fish in the river or not. We went upstream from Thomas Rd. Using eggs and a bobber we fished all the holes up about 1 mile and hooked into a chrome chinook jack, but it spit the hook and was lost. We also ran into a landowner along the river who said that the fish are definitely in here, but not nearly as thick as they will be in the end of august to mid-September. Once we get some really good rain the fish will get pushed upstream away from the flossers by the mouth and upstream away from most people.

Also the landowner said that we can't be upstream because the owners have owned the land for 80 plus years and the line of navigability ends at Thomas road. However, the WA-DNR has said navigability ends 320' west of the railroad tracks. This should mean landowners can't own the river bed, as long as you stay under the high tide mark right? The river is very controversial and I just want to make sure that i am okay to be upstream as long as I'm in the water. Please comment with any info. Cheers, and tight lines!

River being so low you should focus on some lower areas.. Alot of very skinny water between Thomas road an the mouth that kings cant easily get up so they'll hang low.. I'll be at the mouth in about 6 hrs Fishing the outgoing tide.. And Thomas rd is all posted with no trespassing signs and has been for years.. you can thank all the garbage dumpers for that.. Where can you fish in this area? I see people have signs trying to charge money to fish and the Edison bridge. I see people in the river snagging fish year after year,. I just want to float eggs and catch a king for the first time. Any tips would be awesome. Or if anyone wants to get together and fish,I'm always ready!

Do you guys ever fish In the bay I front of samish? I'm thinking about taking my boat that way soon but I don't know how to fish for kings! If any one wants to hook up and show me the ropes we can take my boat! Let me know!

I've avoided this river all 4 years I've lived here because of its controversial nature but with almost every other River closed, I'm thinking I may need to try it. The only time I went down there I saw signs trying to charge money and gates, fences etc...so where can I go and actually fish? Maybe even a spot with less than 109 other people?
