Fished the Samish after the hawks game last weekend 10/2 and ran into some wild coho on spinners.
Went out this weekend and it was pretty dead near the mouth saturday morning 10/8. Went up river and saw tons of people catching fish at the Farm to market rod bridge. Saw them keeping lots snagged fish forsure and most likely native coho. basically anything they got was kept in that concentrated large group who were doing the famous samish fish tactic of snag the heavy jig into the fishes belly... I went upriver a bit and got a nice native coho in the mouth twitching a small steelhead jig. Then the tide was up too high with too much debris and i left.
Sunday 10/9 seemed dead everywhere. seen a few fish pulled out but not much. my friends hooked into some native coho on spinners, 2 being jacks so empty handed again.
I was stoked to fight some coho though with lots of fight and jump in em!
