11/2/2016 8:36:00 AMIMO, all commercial netting should be banned from Neah Bay, inland. Puget Sound cannot support commercial fishing. The impacts are too great proportionate to the profits. Commercial fisherman don't like to admit that Puget Sound fishing is only useful as a way to pay for testing their gear before heading up to Alaska annually. The runs in P.S. are too pressured and depleted. And most agree that tribal netting of rivers is just plain stupid, although there is little anything can be done to change it.
If only we could model Florida and the way they manage their fisheries. All commercial and tribal netting is restricted far offshore. And, anglers only pay for licenses for fishing from boats. All beach and jetty fishing is free! This is the way it should be.
