Hit three spots on the Green. Lots of fishermen out. only saw a few caught all day. even my favorite spot produced nothing for me or the others, even with a tasty ship on the jig.

walked to a new spot and noticed a teenage with his dad snagging fish and then two guys across the river doing the same thing. heavy weight, 6 foot leader and a plain jighead, cast across the river and rip it back. then behind me in a small gravelly side channel no deeper than a foot and full of chum pairs in their redds some "fisherman" walked in and starts snagging them out of their redds. I left, eventually returned and then there were about 8 teenagers snagging the chum out of their redds. WFT? what is wrong with these people? I left.

Was this in the Auburn area? Until they get caught and fined they will keep doing this.

When you see stuff like that going on please speak up or call it in to the game wardens. It will never stop if they go unchecked. You dont have to be mean about it either. Educated them on their misguided ways and hope they take it to heart.

Mehhh, going soft wont do any good. you got to push them in the river. Pretend to help him land his fish then give him a shoulder check. *whoops* "oh sorry did i do that? My bad.." haha

Sometimes a lighter approach can work. I was fishing the Wallace River last year and some teenagers were snagging fish on both sides of me. I caught an 18 or so lb COHO on a jig. I was pretty sure the fish took my jig, as it took in between lifts. I let it go. The teenagers were screaming at me that it was a legal fish and to keep it. It was hooked on the outside of the corner of the mouth. I explained to the kids that I wasn't sure if the fish took the lure. After that, they stopped doing the big sweeping snagging strokes, and let go fish that weren't fairly caught. ??

Sounds exactly like the group of idiots that I encountered on Nov. 11th. 4 young guys upstream of the tree farm hole snagging fish after fish off the reds and screaming all morning. I got sick of it so I called WDFW and moved closer to get a better look and take some video for evidence. They were initially a bit leery of my presence, but quickly went back to snagging. I got so pissed and yelled out to them, "Quit snagging"! One of the guys then started hollering back something and walked across the river towards me. When he got close, he tried to show me that he had no hook on his setup and said he wasn't trying to snag (I'm sure he just broke it off). I explained to him that I didn't want any problems, but he should leave the spawners alone and try to go for fish in deeper water that would bite. He did admit to snagging (no surprise) but didn't want to hear it from me. He started yelling at me, claiming I low holed him because I walked up 100 yards below him. Ridiculous. Next time I catch him snagging, he will be going for a swim.
