Spent some quality time with my daughter Megan on Lake Stevens in my Arima. We didn't get an early start, arriving about 8:30. We ended up with 3 kokanee and one rainbow trout by 1-ish. Trolled wedding rings with corn. Got all 3 kokes at 40 feet with a chartreuse wedding ring. I usually run pop gear on the downrigger ball and the line 3-5 feet above it, but removed it after a while with no bites, and just ran the spinner and a 4/0 dodger off the ball. We also tried red, pink and red/white/blue. We had the best luck on the North end, East of the aerator in about 70 feet of water. Megan's first koke was over 14 inches and a ball on an ultralight spinning rod. We saw a bass boat fast trolling with no downriggers near the aerator and they were getting lots of rainbows, so we took one pole off the rigger and flatlined it behind the boat. The little planter rainbows were just smacking a pink wedding ring, almost every ten minutes or so, but not hooking up. We did keep one about 12 inches. Once the jet skis and ski boats showed up in numbers, the trout sort of disappeared.
