hello everyone, it's that time of year for me again, Found some new holes or ones haven't fished in years, so i will now start posting again. Steve and I fished or (tried to) fish a farm pond out in gray's harbor or Thurston county out toward Shelton close to that casino before Shelton? it was so windy and cold, it was a real struggle to even cast must have been 30mph winds at least! did manage to get a couple of bites but man it was hard out there. this is a new pond we found this winter and I don't think it has ever been fished, it was made by the game dept. 20 some years ago, has pads coming out and some grassy areas could be a good spot, will fish again and give a report and find out if it can be fished by others. we are going out Thursday so hopefully i got something better to post with pics, talk to everyone then.

There are many lakes out there, that haven't been fished in years.I go to Google earth and find lakes that I never knew were there. I have heard that DNR will hand out keys to gates, but don't know about lumber co. I have found 6 lakes in Kitsap alone, they are not listed or named. Living in WA. I have learned to dress warm carry extra coats rain gear and a tarp in the boat. The wind is a given. But the fish cant see you as well or your luers.I have caught my largest fish when the wind was howling.Did you get water temp? And was the pond very deep? I talked to a guy at long lake last week and he was using a brown jig with a brown grub and was doing well.

trent, I dont test water temp, this lake is pretty shallow, but has a creek running into it, so it does not dry up. as for the wind, I can deal with some wind, but this was unfishable in my boat, we could not oar and move forward it was that bad. i'm gonna go out today, not there but somewhere else. As for google earth I look up old lakes i used to fish. I used it last week to find one i fished in thurston county out by mud bay, It's been 15 years since I fished this lake, was great then. used earth to find it again, got there and found out it is some wildlife refuge or some crap and cant fish it anymore. then I found a few others i used to fish out by mccintosh lake in thurston county, one you had to hike 2 miles into, a beaver pond full of 2 to4lb bass, now it is a gated comm. and cant get to it. another one out by olympia airport is another gated comm. I would pay to fish that one!, I did find one of my hot spots still undeveloped but I have to hike into that one. we will see. Prob. NO TRESPASSING! developement sucks!
