You'll do not even know how to describe the last two trips my two different buddies and I had on two different days two weeks apart. We slayed them both times mostly with rubber worms in red and green, yes and even bubble gum which I used just to see if it would work . Well it did caught the biggest fish of the day with it about a 5 or 6 lb which are common on this lake probably because there is a good supply of littler fish for the big ones to feed on. Come to think of it I remember last year catching a two two in a half LBer had a smaller fish still in his throat released him made a few more cast caught another two or Lber and it had a fish in his throat not the same bass because I looked for the hook mark in mouth and the bulge in his belly was opposite the other fish unless the fish in the throat moved any hoot there are other stories of this lake that would make any bass fisherman just wish he he'd days like I've had on this gem. To bad locals say the county might turn it into a park which will just mean the lake will go Downhill and never be the same. I know until then though I will continue to have some of the best fishing of my life here. Unlike the Wherehouser lake off I=5 that was great for largemouth until this year when we went to fish it the dumbas--- killed the cattails and the hydrilla around the whole lake not to mention the tree chopped down that provided shade and the hydrilla not even present any more. It is a shame, I'll tell you there were some huge bass in there and I do not know if they are even in there any more but the lake seemed dead, and lots of goose and duck poop that was never there before until they opened the banks more with chopping down the trees and get this then they planted other trees right back in there place. Dumbas---. Well if anyone is interested in knowing this place has got to give me a place of there own with just as good fishing or better because I can guarantee you will catch at least 1 five lb, one 6lb, and an occasional 7 or 8, but lots of two's and three's and in a couple of weeks the crappie, perch and bluegill will be hitting and then it is even funnier. Bringing in a crappie last year on my fly rod and had a huge bass just crush it off my fly. Had a huge bass hit my Scum Frog off a scum pad last year that came right up through the mat to grab it man the anticipation was hard not to set the hook when he or she first came up and hit it waited a second or so until I knew the bass had it before I set the hook, but think it hooked itself anyway the way it struck the bait, Whoosh, you'll know the sound. That is when your glad you are using braided line, with mono I'm sure it would have buried me in the weeds and it then would have been a weed fish bite. Use mono though when fishing Rapala minnow baits later in the year when the mats show up just throw into the pockets or outside edges and it a fish on just about every cast, sometimes just twitch it on top right after it settles after the cast and Wham topwater hits that make your heart rate rise. Well got to get, burning daylight. Basser61
