Let me know where yours are and I'll do the same just do not know how we will do that, by the way posted the cow pond once and believe it is still there, only need small boat and fly rod with assortment of poppers, nymphs, & dry flies to catch big bluegill and crappie.

5/29/2008 1:45:00 PMI slipped in there for a bit last evening myself and had some fun with a few and got my ass kicked by a huge bass. I've been fishin that pond off and on for a long time and it truely is a gem. I was throwing a perch topwater and after the bass took it from me, I switched to plastics and got into a couple in the grass and the edge of the lily's. Been meaning to get my flyrod out there and will do so shortly. Good luck out there and yes I put all the big bass back

So top water fishing with a perch color, great, sorry you lost her. Always knew there were big Bass in there. Those half dollar sized lillies are a pain to fish around though aren't they. The fish in there dive right for them every time they get hooked, might want to try Spider Wire, or some other braided line, cuts right through the pads. If you have fished it for years than you know also the pads seem to be the thickest I ever have seen them so early in the year huh. Since you also fly rod which I do too, might want to try the leader in braided line also, I know that sounds weird but it still works even with nymphs, have you caught any of the large bluegill in there or the crappie? The other day had someone yell at me from the road that I wasn't going to castch a thing, probably not a fisherman and I let them go on thinking that since the less people that fish it the better. Glad to hear too your a catch and release fisherman, you know as well as me that only means better fishing for us in the future. Have you ever caught fish in their that have like gashes on their backs? Those are from the fish eating birds called Cormorants that hit the pond for a couple of months just before spring, go there constantly during that time and chase them out, although every year and every time I chase tham out they are right back there the next day, they know a good pond for fishing when they get their belly full too. Big black birds with yellow bills these Cormorants can devistate the fish population if not harrased to leave and every year it seems like there are more and more, like the older ones that have offspring bring them there the following year. Must of seen and chased out of there one time 15 of them darn birds, so if you see them give em hell, better yet try to kill one if you can. The other day when I fished it I also saw a turtle in there and never have before, only goes to show that the pond is truly a great ecosystem for as small as it is. Well like I said glad you had a great time fishing it and hope you respect the gem like I do and do not give the spot away as well as catch and release for our future great fishing days. By the way heading there this afternoon be in a white canoe, first time I have ever fished it with a boat because the pads and tall grass behind you are making it about impossible to cast with fly rod.
