Went out late waiting to hear from Trent to see if he was coming my way, decided he was burning to much daylight so took off, arrived at guys house that lets me park in his driveway and talked to him for about 30 min. Walked in to the lake, come out of the bushes and there are two guys that I met there last year fishing with their Salmon rods said they were killing time here waiting for Salmon season to start and have been fishing this little gem since May, that was the last time I fished it because the Bass were on beds and wanted them to finish so I was leaving them alone until Sunday.
Asked if they had kept any since last year, they said they kept a couple of five pounders and I replied that the fish not be good to eat since it is drain off ponds for street water, just trying to scare them some so they don't take the Big Bass out. They said they are only catch and releasing them this year, but still unhappy they were catching them right off the beds, and wading right through them also, but can't tell them not to fish their. Told me they caught a lot of Bass ranging from 1LB. to 6LB. and that they had seen some monsters but could not catch them. Started to watch the way they were fishing some Bass on beds and figured out why. Using a pre rigged worm with the two little hooks in it was not working even though he put it right in front of the male Basses nose it would not bite and to top it off he was only standing two feet away and spooking it and the water was all stirred up from wading around just not the right way to fish em. Also noticed they were trying minnow bait floating and by the time he would cast it in there and two cranks he was already out of the bed, let alone fishing over them, dummy= Salmon fisherman, even had salmon rods like 10' ers. Noticed they would just chuck it out and reel it in, not once dead sticking or twitching or just working the baits right, but they said they still were catching them just not as many. I on the other hand had a great day for as short as it was, old lady wanted me back for dinner so limited to half of the lake instead of the whole lake. Noticed the weeds are already up and thick as heck and other parts of the shore that had fish on them in the Spring were now choked in algae, with little fish in them only. Any way threw a minnow out towards deep water after I had spooked a 5LB near shore don't think it was three cast or the same fish, but as soon as the lure hit the water maybe one crank wham bigger Bass then the one spooked so do not think it was the same one, she put up a good fight dove into weeds several times and tried to shake out the lure, I was only using 6LB test florocarbon line and knew I had to keep her out of the weeds so tightened down on the drag and held on. Still only got a photo on the phone because it was hot I wanted to get it back with least amount of stress. Had my instant camera in my back vest pocket but didn't want to fool around with that, next time I'll have it around my neck so I can take it fast and release it fast, continued around with no hits until I got to another corner spooked a 5 LB out of cat tails and never saw it again, noticed other two guys left guess they had fished the morning and were tired, went to another spot around a tree I sank in there at Christmas threw in a worm and two cranks a 2 1/2LBer, nice fight, worked around to another good corner with couple more Christmas trees I had put in previous year and first cast with floating minnow and one twitch on top and wham, biggest Bass of the day at least 6 to 6 1/2 LBer and man what a fight on the light line again, first she jumped straight up and nose dived , then ran about 20 feet sideways in about 2 seconds, then violent head shakes in the weeds, what so cool is water is clear enough you can see most of what the fish is doing so I tightened up a bit to get her out of the weeds and she jumped again, thrashing her head to throw the hook and I've had that happen more than once and still can't figure out how they do it with two sharp treble hooks both in the mouth and they still throw the hook, but not this time got lucky I guess just kept constant pressure no slack and took a nice picture off my cell phone only thing is I don't have cable to transfer from phone to computer so imagine a good one in your minds and that is it. After that fished for about 10 minutes more and got the call from lady fish at home to bring my butt home or gonna miss dinner, don't go thinking I'm puss= whipped because there have been many times the fishing was good that I told her I'm not coming home until dark to put it in the oven on warm and it will be there when I get to it. HA HA got a keeper most of the time, she knows not to mess with my fishing time. So tight lines until next bite guys and gals, Have a nice day I did!

I couldn't make it out the kids were with me all day until 9 pm. I will get out there you can count on that! Good to hear your fishing story and sounds like you had a blast wish I could have made it.

Nice report. If you have time one of these days maybe you can bring me along. I am good at keeping secrets. Ask Trent, I can't even find secret lakes. Anyways its good to see someone pull these bass out. Until Last month I didnt believe it was possible to pull bass of those sizes out consitantly in this state.
