Wow. My first 5 star day fishing in Washington. Hit the Lake in the Woods, was in the float tube before the sun came up. Started out throwing a $1 Walmart buzzbait (chartreuse) and started getting hits right away. Up against the grass, in the pads, open water - the bass wouldn't let it go by without hitting it. Targeted some downed timber close to the shore and had a massive hit right in the middle of the wood - 4 pounds 14 ounces. That was the biggest of the day, and boated 4 more that were in the 2.5 to 3 pound range. Lots of smaller ones - caught and released over 20 fish from 6am until 10am. All fish were caught on that cheapo buzzbait, even after the sun came out and it started getting hot.

Once the bite stopped I noticed dozens of 4" to 6" bass following me. At one point I probably had 10-12 of them using me for shade. Might be time to start keeping a few of the little ones, just to free up some food for the bigger ones.

All in all an outstanding day fishing. Can't wait to go back.

funny i bought a bunch of dollar buzzes and spinner baits there,great selection of colors makes throwing them in bad places easier lol.

Nice job Aaron. I was there yesterday and caught 3 and missed 3. I think that 4lber might be the one I caught. I estimated him at 4.5 guess I wasnt too far off. I love how the schools of baby bass tag along. If you get a chance try the far side of the lake where there is a huge tree on the shore and the water is the deepest. I seen a HUGE bass jump over there by the pads. Gotta love the lake in the woods.

sounds like you guys are having fun catching some bass i was wondering if u can tell me where is this lake at?

I been fishing cottage lake and lake serene in lynnwood and also martha lake in mill creek i've been catching some nice ones.
