So after I got home from work, I went to my friends restaurant to get some food. If you haven't been to Time 4 Pho in Magnolia, you should definitely try it out.

Anyways, I decided to go fishing after dinner and got to the lake around 8:30 pm. There were a couple other people fishing there and fishing the spot I usually fish which was a bit disappointing. But oh well, I had to make the best of the situation and work the other side where the fishing wasn't as good in my experience.

I started working a drop shot along the edge of the lily pads. Within about 10 minutes I caught my first little largemouth that was probably about 6 - 7 inches or so. About 10 minutes later I caught another little largemouth that was about 7 - 8 inches or so.

Then about 3 or 4 casts later as I am working my drop shot, I get an AWESOME STRIKE! It wasn't like a huge bite, or a tap tap tap or just my line moving. It was probably the most awesome strike that I've ever felt from a bass. My rod was pointed almost straight up, and within a split second my rod and arm gets pulled down and to the right so hard and fast that my rod tip actually hit the water! So I immediately set the hook and fish on! Keep in mind that I was using my 5' 0" ultra light set up again so this fish felt like a beast! I almost thought I had a snag when I set the hook because it bent my rod in half and drag ripped out whenever I lifted my rod tip. So I am fighting this fish for about a minute and it's just pulling hard and keeping down in the water. I didn't see the fish until it was about 3 feet away from shore and when I saw it I was in shock at the size of the fish. I thought to myself "the bass in this lake must be on crack" because this bass fought like a bass 2 - 3 x its size. I land the fish and immediately I tell myself that it's about a 1 lber. Just for fun I bust out my Berkley Digital Scale and weigh it. I was pretty much dead on as it weighed 1 lb 2 oz. But a 1 lber, it had the heart and fight of a 2 - 3 lber. But then again, I'm sure that using an ultra light rod added to that effect. But I have caught bigger fish on that set up that this bass and they didn't fight as hard. So I am still standing by my thoughts and saying that this fish fought like it was on crack ;). It was nice and chunky for it's size so I was pleased to see that it was a healthy fish that was eating well.

I snapped a couple pics and let her go. I cast out again and within a few seconds I am getting a few tap taps. So I am thinking to myself, "Hm.. this must be a small rock bass or something.." I keep working my drop shot and then I get a solid couple of taps and set the hook! It wasn't fighting like a rock bass so I was thinking Yellow Perch. Sure enough it was a Yellow Perch. It was about 7 - 8 inches or so. So I snapped a pic for the heck of it and let her go.

After the perch, I cast out again and get another bite! But this time, it's a bait sized largemouth that was probably only 3 - 4 inches at most. But hey, 3 casts, 3 fish, can't complain right?

Spent only about 45 minutes at the lake and caught 4 Largemouth and 1 Yellow Perch. So I would call it a pretty successful day.

Oh and I snagged my top water popper in a tree when the wind blew it sideways about 15 feet mid cast. It broke off and was floating in the water. So I tied on an inline spinner and on my first cast I snagged it and saved my lure :).

So that made it an even better way to end the night :D
