First, shout out to ILVCASSIDYLAKE for sharing this amazing secret lake to me!
Rumorville has it that some of these west-side lakes out in the "SNO CNTY" has got some trophy gills that are comparable to those that you see out in the Midwest/ & down South (I'm thinking that might be just a stretch :), but eager to find out and up for the challenge!
So got to the lake at 9am, first cast next towards down tree with jig & bobber, seconds later bobber down - hooked a 2 lb LMB (quick photo & released back), and then followed by the next 1/2 hr of smaller bass actions.
After a period of silence/ bass stopped biting (or moved on), the bluegills started showing up - and caught my first one, it was a dink (I mean, like the size of my toe!), I'm like - C'mon Maaaan/ you got to be kidding me?
Then, the next one hooked (before getting it to shore), I'm thinking this is it! It pulled like a small mouth bass and a lot harder than the 2 lb LMB, fish pulled to the left then to the right, jumped up and clearly saw that it was a huge bluegill, then my 4 lb test line snapped!#? Quickly got set up, cast back out, hooked another big one - this time this one pulled so hard it got itself hung up in the stump, unfortunately I wasn't able to bring it in and it got loose - C'mon Maaaan!!!
So, by 11am (when I called it a day) I ended up catching 5 nice ones (8 - 10"), released a bunch that was smaller - they're not the 2 - 3 pounders that I was after, but I have good feeling about this lake when I come back next time with a 6 lb test line!
I can tell that this lake will produce trophy bluegills, LMB, & crappies - can't wait!
