Its best I not disclose the location of this pond, as it is on private property of a local aerospace company in Everett saved for its employees.
I am unsure if the bass found their way in or were planted, but they are the only species I found in the pond. From their aggressive attitude it seems they have no fear of predation and will attack lures repeatedly as if they just want to kill it out of anger.
I started with top water frogs as I have had great luck with them here. Sight fishing a very large fish over and over he threw my frog in the air or crushed it somehow deflating it and no hook set, user error most likely or one smart fish.
I switched to my ultra light 4lb test rod because it had a small pond magic chartreuse spinner on it and headed back to my ornery friend. He smacked it right off, we played for a few seconds and off he came.. Damn this fish!! At this point he was just messing with me.. pulling it in and spitting it out. Sure enough a friend of his came by and smacked it, HOOK SET!!
Finally the fight was on, but this one was hefty for my super light gear. It jumped a few times and headed directly for the weeds, she's big and smart! Damn, not good once again with such finesse setup I started to worry but fought her out of the muck and back towards open water. She gave a good fight and set my new personal best fish on 4lb test. Few minutes later I landed another one a little longer but not quite as tubby.
Great day on this private pond I caught a good 7 fish in less than 2 hours. I know its cheating, these guys rule this water and are not hard to entice a strike. Either way I had fun and will come back next year to see if my friends grew any bigger!
