With the Chinook Salmon season closed on the Columbia, and the Coho's are not in on my favorite river. I decided on doing some Sturgeon fishing while the season is still open. I brought along my friend and his father-in-law who is from the mid-west, and has never fished for Sturgeon.
We started from the Camas boat launch and headed to one of my favorite spots near the island. We set the anchor and got our lines in the water. Kurt was the first to get one, a 34" shaker that put a nice fight. I was next with a 48" keeper. We had to land it on the beach. It broke the net. Next was Kurt and another shaker. Then Rich finally got one, another little shaker. The weather was beautiful and there were no one around us.
What a great day to fish in the Pacific Northwest!
Rip some lips!
