I went over to Wenatchee to try my luck at trophy walleye fishing this last weekend. I was joined by my buddy Ron and we fished with Craig Martin of Mountain Dew Guide Service. The morning started out at a brisk 33 degrees as the boat slipped into the water at about 7:30 am. Brrr. But the sun was shinning and we knew that it would warm up soon. We motored up river from the rough rocky launch a little ways to the first rocky outcropping(wing dam), and dropped our 1/2 oz.jigs overboard. We fished most of the day in the 33 to 40 foot range. WE made two drifts though this first back eddy with no luck, so we moved on to the next wing dam and did the same thing. Nothing. I was a little disappointed, because this was about the most fishy looking spot I've ever seen. For walleye or smallies anyway. In fact that was the drift that our guide had taken his personal best 17+lbr. a few years back. Oh well, on to the other side of the river to try a long sandy flat. Nothing. So on to a fourth spot. It just wasn't going to happen for us today. We fished hard for 8 solid hours, rotating between these 4 areas. It was a great day, nice weather, good company, saw some deer and a couple of bald eagles. I learned alot from Craig, I told him that I wanted to learn the area so I could fish it myself, and I believe he gave me alot of useful info. I will be back in a couple of weeks. The water was 36 deg., and it needs to warm up a little more. Tight lines Mark
