Went to Porcupine Bay with my brother and his buddy from work. It was nice when we got there, and nice when we left. Everything in-between was windy and rainy. We managed to pull in 6 eyes, and kept 5 for our bellies. All were from 12"-16". We used the drift to drag our jigs/crawlers along the bottom. The bites were very subtle, but all in all a good day out of the house. A guy doing surveys at the launch said the fishing(catching) had been slow.

Good to year you caught fish, especially when the full pool had impacted a lot of patterns this year. WELL DONE.
If I may ask, how deep?

were you using skirt jigs or grubs? painted jigheads or plain lead heads? I have always done well with Jerry's sparkle /charteuse skirt jigs up in porcupine bay. Lately, the Bug-eyes up there seem to like a rainbow trout colored finess fish swimbait or a Berkley Gulp 3" minnow on a chart/lime green 1/4 oz lead head. I've also found that at times it's hard to beat a Berkley Realistix Perch patterned drop shot minnow with a Gitzit, 1/8th oz little tough guy Perch colored jig head for Spokane river Eyes. Slender , minnow mimicking jig skirts are relativly new to the walleye jigging scene. I customize my colors with Sharpies and dip and dye pens from Zoom baits. Anglinarcher put it right when he said the Wallys can be tough to catch at full pool up there! When the water has a little stain on the river, somtimes I'll run a Chartruese 1/4 oz Blakemore Roadrunner head with a gold willow leaf blade and a Berkley Power minnow tipped with a piece of crawler. Sometimes the fishing is mayhem with that set up! The Jigmiester

the two of us that caught fish were using fireball jigs(chartreuse) with a trailer hook. no skirt, 1 or 2 crawlers. caught between 30 to 60 feet. our buddy was using jigs with split tailed grubs and was unsuccessful. we started off the day trolling a harness(double whammy), and a crank bait both with a snap weight to get them deeper. we had no bites while trolling.
