After consulting various weather sources, I figured that weather was probably going to be a toss up. So I hooked the LUND up and headed for Roosevelt. I made Steamboat Rock St pk. my base, overnighted and was launching at Spring Canyon before the sun was to break the following morning. There was heavy overcast and light wind to meet me. The pool must have been at full. and was no doubt the highest I've seen in some time. No further than a few hundred yards from the launch the first rainbow was hooked and released. before the afternoon was over a dozen or so were also caught and released, plus several smallies. Even though several fronts passed thru and the water was rough the fishing was good. Being satisfied with our luck my friend and I motored up near Keller Ferry where we fished a popular area. Here we had little luck. However based on our earlier experience and the fact that the 'bows were about 15"- 20", I have to say this was a good day. Since we had removed the triple hooks and replaced them with siwash hooks we lost a number of good fish also.
