Went out on one of my days off to seven bays. the lake level has
been yo-yoing drastically lately and when I arrived was actually above
full-pool. no other fishermen out there for the first couple hours, and I
had not a bite. until one of the locals came down and threw some powerboat a
few yards from shore. he had barely set his rod in the holder when his line
started screaming. I helped him net a beautiful 5+ LB wild rainbow and
noticed my rod doing a little dance. it must have been her twin sister. a
gorgeous 5lb hen! the other guy re-rigged and was immediately into another
fish, this time a 17 inch planter rainbow that was shaped like a football. a
half hour later I matched this one too. we ended the day each getting a nice
silver of app. 18". the bite had completely died by 11am, but I went home
happy and heavier! the rainbow fishing from shore will only get better from
here through January! Look for a shallow flat or a submerged point and toss
some bait. This is a serious meat fishery!!!! the quality of the fish is almost like ocean run
silvers!
