my grandpa my uncle and i went out on the columbia today. We got on the water at about 3:30 and started fishing at about 5. it started slow but soon started to pick up we had a couple strikes and the boat next to us caught a little wild fish. then the bite started, our first two fish were hatchery steelhead then the wild fish moved in, between the three of us we caught 8, 7 steelhead and 1 king, the king was about 14 and some of the steelhead were about twelve. but none of the native fish left the water or were netted just brought up to the side were the either flipped off or we grabbed the hook with pliers and turned 'em loose. at the end of the day we had about 24 takedowns 8 fish caught with a 9th being a northern pikeminnow that slipped through the net.
we were using orange spinners with a siwash with a siwash stinger and we still missed a lot of bites. we left about 2:30.
