11/16/2009 10:03:00 AMAs far as the mercury thing, in the interest of not continuing to spread false information about the mercury content in flu vaccines:
http://www.cdc.gov/Flu/about/qa/thimerosal.htm
So it is true that mercury is in the flu shots. But, to put it in perspective, according to the EPA, a 6oz can of tuna contains an average of 20.4 mcg (micrograms) of mercury. An adult dose flu shot as manufactured by the ONLY manufacturer this year (Aventis Pasteur) contains 25 mcg.
The shots can be said to be much safer than eating two cans of tuna... but, c'mon, I used to play with the little blob of mercury from a broken thermometer when I was a kid. Aren't we getting a little hyper-sensitive to these supposed health threats now-a-days? I say eat fish, get your flu shot, and get on with life. No flu = more fishin'!
