The wife & I fished Lake Roosevelt, putting in at Spring Canyon on Friday the 29th, & Saturday the 30th. If any of you want to experience a wonderful time on the water to enjoy fishing at it's finest, now is the time.
We mainly trolled orange back repala's right on top of the water along the south shore from Spring Canyon to the Dam. The trick is to get it as far behind the boat as you can, and when you think your far enough, go another 50' to improve your chances. Do not troll in a straight line, (zigzag) and kick it up a notch as we were moving 2.5 mph and had little sucess going slower.
The prize of this is when you hook one of the large kokanee as you can see in the picture of one of two that Kathy caught.
Our largest rainbow was 3# (Kathy caught that one also) with most of the fish being 15"-18" and very feisty when hooked. We saw several larger rainbows that were caught by other fisherman that were well into the 5# range, so they are out there if you put your time in.
Overall I couldn't have asked for a better fishing outing with my number one fishing partner, but even after all these years, she still makes me clean the fish.
I can't wait for my grandson to get a little older so he can experience this type of fishing in the wintertime, and I guarentee he will help grandpa clean fish when that time comes.
Tight lines everyone, Kathy & I will send in a report from time to time.
Next stop is Lake Chelan.
See Ya!
