Pa and I launched from Bridgeport at 9:30 a.m. We took our time getting to the first set of pens and arrived about 11:00 a.m. The outside temperature was about 38 degrees, water temperature unknown. Started the kicker motor and droped the lines in. Made it about 5 minutes before the kicker motor died. In the horizan an F 18 Hornet appears and banks hard to port. Went right over us with a thundering roar. I think I saw a fishing pole and bobber up against his cockpit. :o) Grabbed the camera for his next pass but no such luck. Restarted the kicker motor and trolled 10 minutes, no hits and the kicker motor died again, then again, and again. Looks like a long day a coming. 12 noon brought the first trout in, about 3.75 pounds.The kicker motor made a "pop" and a long hiss, it never died again after that. From there, pa's pole got hot, every pass brought in a fish. Caught our limit by 12:40 p.m. Maximum weight 6.5 pounds.
Broke down our gear, found a cove and had lunch. Nice trip back, lots of bald eagles and other folks in boats and on the shore enjoying the day. Heading back tomorrow for another round.

What was the winning combination for you two? I too have had a extremely close call with a fighter pilot in his Jet. They are long gone by the time you hear anything. Except in my encouter, the pilot was flying as slow as possible beside a Cessna as it was in the air on 911. The whole thing was witnessed from my front porch in rural Seattle.The Jet was nose up/tail down, loud beyond comprehension. It was just like the top gun maneuver, so as to match the speed of the cessna. It is to bad he did not come back round for a photo op!
You and your buddy had a good fishing, sightseeing trip.

Yep, dad put a whooping to me. I can't believe how hot his pole was. We weighed out 4 fish just over 19 pounds combined. I will be posting a report for day 2 tonight.
We are just outside of Seattle( Covington) for our home base. Been going to lake for over 15 years now, never get bored, and a great place to anchor out for a couple overnight stays. I figured out a way to make it 3 days without having to go back down stream for ice. SOOOOOOOOOOOO RELAXED

It is good for dad to put a hurt on the kid, as much as possible!! LOL Dad's make good outdoor adventure buddies, they deffinintly make the trip memorable. That is a good idea to anchor up for the night. I have wanted to do that for some time now. Sounds like a efficient method of fishing as well as cost effective if Rufus is a long drive.
