Launched at Fort Spokane around 8:30AM. I decided to fish farther north than I did yesterday, I felt as if the fish were a little off down around Keller and I contributed it to the rising water, so I wanted to see if they would bite better farther from the Dam. Headed North from the Spokane River and found a sandy flat about 4or 5 miles up on the west side of the lake. This flat has a fairly deep [30ft.] channel in the middle with gravely points. Cranked this area and caught 11 smallies 1.5 to 2lbs. Left and went back south almost back to the Spokane River and fished a very rocky shoreline that extended onto a flat on it's south end. Cranked this three times starting at the north end of the rocks, caught 26 smallies 1.5 to 2lbs but three were 3 to 4lbs. Wind some rain and more wind continued throughtout the day. It did lay down for a little bit but not long. This was the second day of my second consecutive weekend on Roosevelt and I was sure getting tired of fighting the wind, but we went back up to the flat and cranked this area three or four times and caught another 14 smallies 1.5 to 2.5 lbs with one 4.7. The water temp was 48.3 to 49.5. All fish were caught on 1/4 oz. Speed Traps, Rapala #7 Shad Rap RS and lipless crank baits in perch colors. Note: A very slow retrieve with the RS was the most productive method today. Most fish caught in 8 to 10 ft. of water off of the bank. Overall it was a great day 51 fish caught and released. Even with the wind this was my third 50 plus day over the past two weekends. The other three days were 21, 36 and 43. Roosevelt is hot, can't wait for larger fish to show.

Nice reports all of them. That is my favorite body of water to fish this time of year. Be over there in two weeks with the boy. How fast is the water coming up by the dam?

Nice report, and glad to hear the smallies are on the feed. We'll have to try and sneak in a trip when my bow mount gets back from the repair shop (warranty work). Your comment about rising water levels piqued my interest as that's contrary to what I saw last weekend when we were there, and checking the Corps of Engineers website shows reservoir levels to be dropping, not rising. Since Saturday, 5/1, water levels at midnight have been: 1269.75', 1269.80', 1269.30', 1269.00', 1268.70'. Keith, hewesfisher says my thoughts about the water rising were wrong. I did not check the info. that he has, so I am sure he is right. I was there two weekends in a row and it sure felt to me like the water was higher this past weekend than it was the week prior. So now I am not sure why the bite was better up river than down closer to the dam. Well as normal just when you think you have it figured out you find out you don't.
