Put in above Vernita Bridge at about 7:15 am. River level is lower by about 4'. I was working on my salmon fishing skills and still have much to learn. I was using a flasher, 6" and 4" chrome, and tried a Rapala X-Rap-6, Countdown and a K13X flat fish. No luck. That's ok.

I finished the day fishing for sturgeon using herring. I had only one bite and the thing had to be 6'. This one jumped then came toward the boat, changed up and took off down river. This thing was not stopping. I tried to get it to slow up. Wrong thing to do. It broke my braided eighty test line.

I should have released the anchor as soon as it was hooked and played it floating down stream. It's ok. We've got some nice size fish below the surface of this river just waiting to be hooked.

Fish finder is on the fritz so no water temp. with this report. Air temp. was in the mid-nineties. A good day overall.
