Did you catch?

Hello Matt, Well, it's a long story, I didn't but my wife did. She a really nice steelhead. This was her first steelhead. I was fishing with a downrigger and trying different lures all day, she was using a #5 gold mepps spinner with orange salmon egg looking body, I had on a u-20 flatfish. We were trolling to fast for the flat-fish and to slow for the mepps, in my opinion. All of a sudden she hollers I got one, so I said reel him in. She is fishing with a little trout setup and light line so I start telling her don't reel so fast, keep him coming, watch his head, check the drag,a little faster, a little slower, watch it, careful, etc.etc. Well she got him to the boat, he took off, o.k. a little slower now, wear him out a little, etc, etc, She got him to the boat again and he rolled and shook, I slipped the net under him and he was 3/4 of the way in. The hook caught the side of the net and he gave a little wiggle and slid out of the net slick as coiuld be. I told her it was my fault for not netting him better, which it was. That was about 2pm. So around 4 or 4:30 I said we better head home. Nope, all she wanted to do was drag that mepps around, wouldn't try anything else. Next time we go I;m sure she will want the same lure.
The fishing was very slow, didn't see anybody else catch fish. There were a number of steelhead flopping and rolling just south of the bridge at Entiat. right close to shore, in fact I think a guy would do better from shore than in a boat in that particular place. I probably won't go again until next week. Supposed to rain this weekend; but really I prefer to fish on the weekdays and avoid the crowd at the docks and boats gangin up to fish. I'm local here in Cashmere. Maybe we'll see you on the water or go fish together some time.
