Had a great time fishing at Porcupine 12/11 and 12/12 with my daughter, Shelby. We tried the bays up the narrows for a couple hours Saturday morning. All we could catch up there was a lot of debris in the water. Then we moved to the mouth of the narrows. There are plenty of fish there. Many hits, a few lost at the boat, but we limited easily. (The whacking club in the photo is 16".) All were good thick fish with a lot of fight. Then we camped Saturday night. Had a great fire after digging 6-8" of snow out of the fire pit. Sunday we started fishing a little after 9am, easily limited by noon. Great fishing again. The water was like glass Sunday. Overall the fish were 15"-18/19". They were smaller fish than the last couple trips when they averaged 18". The water level was down a little, the overnight boat dock was shallow and tricky, and the launch was fine, except the south dock was half under water. We trolled wedding rings with and without flashers, trolled flies, colors didn't matter, leaded line and leaded with 50' of mono...they were biting everything we gave them. Kept the line out 120'. Brought in half the fish on a 4' Ugly stick, what a blast! There was only one other boat for a short time on Saturday. Very peaceful. The only downside fishing/camping this time of year are the long long long nights, also hands get numb cleaning the fish. Ed
