Launched at Porcupine Bay at 8:00 am. I was surprised on the lack trailers in the parking lot. We started fishing near the cemetery and picked up two 14 inches in about 2 hours of drifting in 10-27 fow so we headed up to buy 5. We saw a few more boats but nothing like in years past. We fished the reservation side primarily drifting in 10-25 fow. We found a eddy where we picked up about 10 nice eyes 15-17 inches. The eddy was nice as I was able to keep my line in the water vs starting the motor to get my dad, nephew and myself out of the rocks. We made a few donations of lead to the river on Friday. The weather was great with fairly calm winds, not a friend of drift fishing as you need the wind to cover some ground and keep the jigs bouncing. The current was great for finding the fish. As we were close to our limit and it was getting late we made our last drift and continued drifting down river for at least a hour picking up our remaining 5 walleye to reach our limit. It was a great day catching a lot of fish, 27 eyes and 1 bass. Nothing surpassed 17 inches. We spoke to a few fisherman and their catches we're similar. Nothing over 17. As we were finishing up our filets at 9:00 pm we saw a 6-7 pounder on the table caught in the narrows heading up river from Porcupine right before dusk jigging. Lure of choice was a 3/8 ounce white, yellow, orange and black jig with a pumpkin tail with a crawler. I ran out of that color and switched to orange an black and I was able to catch the last 3 in about 30 minutes. A perfect day on the lake catching lots of fish with my dad and nephew.
