I was down fishing below bouy 5 out front of my buddys cabin when I caught what I thought was a Large Mouth Bass. After carefully checking this fish out I found the jaw not to be that of a Large mouth but more of a Small mouth Bass. The fish I think is a spotted Bass. Fish was about 1 1/2 lbs I've heard of them being caught in there but have never caught one. Anyone ever catch any of these out the Spokane Arm?

Sure looks like a spot did it have a tiny rough "teeth" patch on its tongue?

I love catching them at Shasta, but from what I here we DO NOT want them in our waters.

Didnt check its mouth much more than seeing where it was hinged...

Man. That thing looks almost like a Smallie/largemouth Hybrid known as A "Mean mouth bass" with the stripes on the gill plates-but the black side blotches like a largemouth along it's lateral line. Hmmmm?...Spotted bass? maybe.

At first I thought smally/largie hybrid. Then went and looked at pictures online. Spotted does look very similar to your caught fish. Would have the Smallmouth stripes on the outside of the gill plate. LargeMouth black bar running the length of the fish and continues into the gill plate. Including a bunch of spots in the belly area, below the black bar.
