Went with my buddy Glenn up to Kettle. We launched out of Evans and motored up the dalles area above China Bend. Should have lauched at China bend but this was my first time that far upriver. We started out on the right side near a white buoy fishing a back eddy. The current is still ripping and the back eddies are moving fast. We starting catching immediately. No real size, 14-17in., then it started to rain and the fish really turned off. My bait of choise was once again a Norisada blade bait in green rainbow. Glenn was using a jig most of the day with various different grub/worm bodies. We probably caught 30 fish in that area before working our way back to Evans. There is just a stupid amount of dink walleyes in the upper river. Our last stop was at China Bend, we worked the down river side of the island. The fish were holding in 34-40' of water, right on the current seam. Again the blade ruled supreme. I alter these blades by changing out the hooks and and new red ones with a split ring. The red hooks have seemed to make a big difference. It might be because the water is till only 53deg. All told we caught at least 50 fish and kept a limit for both of us. In-fact I just finished eating some of them right before making this report. Those 15-17 inchers definitely make the best eating.
