Met my brother and some buddies at Ft. Spokane for a weekend of fishing and camping. Started at about noon on Saturday fishing the bays to the left of Seven Bays. Downriggers set around 8 ft. with one orange and one perch colored Kekeda flies. The fishing was pretty good with nine in the boat and another four or five lost before we could net them. The orange fly really outfished everything else this weekend. Same deal as everyone else, fish seemed to hit a lot but not stick. We also had fish swimming to the boat and then putting up a heck of a fight right at the last minute. All healthy 16" rainbows, some a little chunkier than others. No carryovers for the weekend.

Sunday morning woke up with some breakfast burritos and coffee after a horrible nights sleep. I seemed to have forgotten my heavy sleeping bag and just had my summer bag. It was a cold, cold night. But hearing about my brother sweating because he was so hot in the same bag that I had forgot made me feel sooo much better! :) Getting breakfast ready I was looking for my gray tote that I keep the cooking utensils in and after a little search I finally found it at the front of my buddies truck with, low and behold, MY SLEEPING BAG!!! A good nights sleep was literally a few feet away as my brother seemed to feel the urge to make me aware of. We, and really I mean everyone else, had a good laugh about that. Standing by the fire for a couple hours warmed me up and we were ready to hit the water again. We started off a little earlier with lines in the water at 10:00. Fished the same area with the same flies at about 8 ft. again. Only fished a couple hours with similar results as the day before. It was a great weekend with a lot of fish and a ton of laughs!

Good report. Looks like the water is cooling and the fish are moving more shallow.

I'll bet it was cold there Dave, glad you had a good time, caught fish, and laughed at your misfortune with the sleeping bag. The fish swimming toward the boat as much as they are this year is new to me. Maybe once in awhile, but seems to more the norm now, they sure do not like seeing the boat though. Thanks for the nice report! :-)
