We launched at Brewster late Thursday evening, motored up to our anchoage spot near the mouth of the Okanogan and spent the night. We chose this weekend prior to knowing the derby was going on but you take the days you can. Got an early start Friday, as did everyone else and fished for sockeye and chinook. Caught a sockeye fairly early, it was puny, released it. The rest of the day, nothing. As everyone was leaving, my buddy and I we one of only a handful of boats on the water. At 8:00, we had a takedown and after a very good fight, Bruce caught a nice 14lb hen!! Dropped the line again ane within 15 minutes had another hit but didn't hook up. We lost daiylight and went to anchor.

Wind kicked up that night and we came off anchorage......drifted almost to the large pump station down stream.......motored back upstream, re-anchored.

Got and early start again Saturday morning, along with 150 of our closest boating friends. At 6:00, had another takedown. This time I had a great fight and we landed a 16lb hen this time! Fished the rest of the day and for a few hours the next morning then called it a day. We were using super bait with a flasherand cut-plug herring with a rotating triangle flasher. It was a great weekend of combat fishing. Everyone was curtious. It was a fun derby........next year we may even enter.
