Well fishing today for burbot was the worst I have seen in the last few years. They are dumping water from Long Lake it appears cause the water looks blown out and muddy up in the arm. We fished three of us for four fish in three and half hours. Since the Burbot bite was off we decided to fish for Walleye. The Walleye bite was excellent but the only problem was all the fish for the most part were approx. 10" long with an occasional 15". Almost everyone out there was catching there limits of these Perch sized fish. Not really worth it when you clean them for one bite of meat. Don't see it clearing up anytime soon unfortunately. Your report was actually very encouraging, Craig. We headed out of Porcupine Bay at 8:00 and headed up river. After about three hours of nothing, my friend finally caught his first Burbot, a 20". A few minutes later had another one on but lost it. After that, nothing. The encouraging part was you taught us well last year when you took us out. thanks for that. :) We would have been far more depressed if you had knocked them dead. Thanks for the report.
