We had doubts about going on this day, in fact, my partner's comment when I called him was "are you @&%!* nuts". We left Spokane about 10:00 got to the Hunters launch area about 11:30. Stood there for 3 hours in a brisk North wind, and caught nothing. Called it a day, and headed for home. About 10 miles South of Hunters a shout from my partner to stop woke me from a warm stupor, and stopping, we watched a wolf trying to hide behind a sparse bush. It was about 3 feet tall, big blocky head, and a pretty intense look. It was black on the back shading to gray and white down the legs. Long legs. It stood looking at us for maybe 15 seconds, then left quickly. Just south of the Egypt elevator, we watched a Golden Eagle interacting with a coyote and several crows at a deer carcass, made our trip better than catching a limit of bows.
