This is a two day report, on Friday my brother Terry and I started off at Spring Canyon in search of some Kokanee. We were in the water and fishing around 7:00 a.m. after our drive from Spokane. Right away we started hooking Rainbow from the launch area to Dam and every place in between. Using our Two Pole permits we each had one leaded line set up and one Mono set up, using mostly pink fly rigs with some type of spinner or smilley blade tipped with worm or pink meal worms, along with matching sling blades and doggers. Our lead was out 4 to 5 colors and the Mono out to around 200 feet. Fishing was very tuff due to the wind, waves, and rain, but very exciting also trying to net and keep the boat under control along with some double hook ups.We stayed out searching for Kokanee until about 1:00 pm and called it, going back to our Motel in Davenport with our limit of Rainbows and only one small Kokanee. The Rainbow were all just under two pounds, great eating and smoking ahead of us for sure. Saturday we launched at Fort Spokane at daylight and went to our favorite spots at Whitestone, and Sterling Point. Fishing was very slow with only one hit at Sterling Point area. Around Whitestone area we ended up with five Rainbow and that was it for about eight hours of fishing. Same set up as Friday with lots of change ups with various lures and such but very slow and the weather was great with lots of sunshine and sume wind in spots. All told, it was a great two days of fishing with my Brother Terry and we will be back again soon for sure.
P.S.-- This is to the Son and Father we seen and talked to Friday at Spring Canyon at the launch. YOU TWO ARE SOME VERY HEARTY FISHERMEN FOR SURE. It reminded my Brother and I in our younger days when we fished in our open boat in the rain, wind, and very ruff waves. We are pretty soft now but do like our covered top Hewescraft and Starcraft Boats.I hope you two sign up as menbers on WL and not just readers, lots of good info to be had, take care and good fishing.
