Had 3 guided walleye/trout trips on Rufus Woods on April 5, 7, and 8th. Walleye bite has been excellent in the morning until about 10:00 AM then it drops off. The native rainbow fishing is off the charts red hot. I would have given this report a 5 if the triploid fishing was better. We only got 1 triploid in the 3 days, which went about 6 pounds.

For walleye, the ticket for me has been pulling 1 1/2 ounce bottom bouncers in front of a Macks Lure Smile Blade/Slow Death Hook combo topped off with a nightcrawler. The walleye are in depths of 14-25 feet right now on Rufus Woods and getting close to the spawn. We caught many 18-20 inch males as well as several 5-6 pounds egg filled females which we released.

For the native rainbows, the ticket is to troll against the current right against the shore with an Owners Rip-N-Minnow and/or a Rapala Shad Rap (size 7).

The 1 triploid we caught was taken on a the Macks Smile Blade/Slow Death combo as we were fishing for walleye.
