Wow! Had one of my best days on Roosevelt since I started fishing it in 2001. Got skunked on Banks Lake Friday and convinced my friends to give Rosie a shot for big kokes on Saturday. Opening ceremonies were a little rough on this trip and we didn’t have a line in the water on Saturday until after noon. Didn’t matter though, before we got all of the lines out the first pole starts dancing. Reel it in, and we have 16” Kokanee to start the day. Good sign! Over the next 4.5 hours we caught 10 bows and 2 kokes. The biggest being a monster koke at just over 20”! The fish came in bunches and we had 3 doubles. All of these fish were excellent fighters, with many jumps and several runs after they saw the boat. The kokes all hit cha-cha squidders behind DD dodgers and the big bows NAILED a Rapala fire-tiger.

Did you launch at Keller Ferry? How deep were you hitting the Kokanee?

We launched at Spring Canyon and fished Swawilla. I had both downriggers set between 15 & 20 feet. Due to the steep drop offs I can't say what the depth was, but we were closer to shore when the kokes and bows hit.

That's a small 7.5 oz corona! It's still a nice kokanee but that mini beer makes it look like a pig.

Looks like a great day on the lake. Thanks for the report. With the water level coming up 2' a day the fish don't seem to be slowing down at all. Hopefully the Kok's will be schooling up in Swawilla shortly.
