Nice catch!
Where were you?
We are going to be staying at Steamboat park on Banks next week. First time at Banks and first time trying for Walleye.
The banks reports have been pretty gloomy lately, so if we get skunked at Banks we were planning to try Roosevelt for the first time. Probably launch out of Spring canyon near the dam.

Larry, since you are wanting to catch walleye, and never have, I would suggest that if you get skunked on your first day at Banks, then to go out again the next day, and try different areas. With walleye, I think, it is all about finding them, and going from 1 big body of water to another big body of water, you will probably get skunked both days.. Use your fish finder to look for humps, and drop offs and troughs in different depths. the deep side of weed edges can be good spots as well I am sure you have done your research, and have some techniques in mind, use them - I really like 2-3oz bottom walkers with a nice buoyant type crawler harness. Move slow from .5-1.3mph. I use 20lb braid, if I get hung up, a good firm pull, or if that doesn't work, I will go back over to the other side of where I got hung up, and nearly always get my gear back. walleye are fun fish to catch, and great food! a lot of time the bite is just the rod tip going down, almost like getting hung up, then you feel the head shake! I hope you get into them.
