Thanks to all who responded to my post seeking advice about towing my boat with canvas up. I purchased a snap on tool mentioned by two of you and I am now a believer in it. There is no way I could have ever got a couple of the snaps on without it. Put the top on 2 days ago and headed to Keller this AM with CF and Al. The boat top did great as I kept my speed at 55 MPH.
Lines in the water by 8 AM Kekeda flies orange and orange/black on down riggers at 15-18 feet. Long line flicker shads and shad raps(perch/red craw dad/fire tiger) on long lines and off planer board. 25 fish by 10 AM!!! Flies definitely were preferred by the fish. We boated another 20 fish between 10-2PM which made for a very good day. Eventually we stacked flies on the down-riggers between 15-28 fow. As compared to last week we got only a handful of carryover fish and some fish less than 15 inches. Last week we saw no other boats but today we saw 3 other boats. The rain really picked up as we left so we were happy with our timing. Water temp was still 55. Hard to imagine fishing might get better but who knows.
