We were able to head out for our annual Thanksgiving overnight trip. We had the camper and boat loaded and headed out Saturday morning. Met up with a friend from church and I jumped in his boat while my two brothers and one of their brother-in-law fished in the other boat. I fished the mouth of the Spokane on the south side and my brothers boat headed down to Seven Bays and Hawk Creek areas. Both boats caught their limit and we ended up keeping 13. My mom always enjoys a few fish and I needed some fish for the smoker, everyone else was full for fish so no need to keep them all.

Fish were all caught using Kekeda flies. Our boat was using orange and the other boat pink. Both colors caught fish equally well. We were down 12 to 18 feet on the downriggers with the usual trolling speed of 2.0 to 2.4. We had many of the usual 14 to 15 inch fish and ended up with 6 of the 13 being a little bit bigger. The fish pictured was a beautiful 19" native. Had three more that were 19". We had a really good time fishing.

Kekeda Tackle Co. is a local company offering high quality trolling flies. The perfect trolling fly for waters around the Pacific Northwest. Offered in a variety of colors at reasonable prices.

Hi Dave,
Great to hear you had a great time with your family. Man are those natives beautiful; I caught one the last trip on the Perch Kekeda. Thanks so much for sharing your family adventure and for making a great product - Alan

Great looking batch of fish Kekedatackleco, thanks for the report. Were all the fish caught on down-riggers or did anyone try on top just using mono? Can't wait to get out again, thanks again.( TB #1 )

Do you use a little dodger in front of those or just pull the fly by itself?

Dave is always thanking us for reporting and commenting about how good his flies work, now we get to thank him for taking some time away to enjoy what we all do - fish Roosevelt with his flies. :-)

Nice fish and what a great time to get away. The offer is still there Dave, and your seat is open, just say when. My new sonar gear is arriving this week, maybe I'll have it mounted and ready when you so "GO"! ;-)

Dave: Awesome family/ fishing outing. Those are the best of times. Thanks for the report. I am sitting here just waiting to head over that way. Looks like sometime in January now. It's hard to coordinate schedules. Can't wait to come give it a try. Thanks again for the flies. I'm sure we will have success using them. Hope to maybe see some of you folks when we get your way. Will check just before we come over to see if anybody else might be there too.

Thanks for the kind words guys. It was nice to get out and actually fish the flies instead of just tying them! :)

Two Brothers #1: We only run two rods and they were both on downriggers. We generally don't long line any of the rods unless we're using Rapalas and we haven't used those in a while.

bjw444mar: We don't use a dodger but I know some guys that do. In the summer we'll sometimes run a dodger for Kokanee but not generally for trout.

I'm hoping that Christmas break will lend itself to a day of fishing. I'd love to take you up on that offer Phil. I'll get in touch with you as the time comes closer.
