Started fishing above Keller Ferry at 10:30. It was nice enough the wife wanted to go out and she is glad she did. No rainbows were caught but OH MY were the little Kok's alive today. Just find 40 to 50' feet of water and start marking tons of fish. The pink hootchie was hot, baited with corn. We did end up netting 1 19"er and 3 in the 16" range.
I'm not sure where all these Kok's are coming from but there is a bunch of them and not one that I could tell was clipped. I was told the bio's are trying to figure it out.

Hey widebear......heading to LR in the morning. These smaller fish are a good sign for next year! If you don't mind.....how far above Keller? I am taking my 7 year old daughter up for a couple days, but staying down in Grand Coulee and fishing out of Spring Canyon so that is a bit of a run for us. Have you been in Swawilla lately......seems to be ghost town this year so far??

Awesome catch and I love it when my bride joins me. I haven't had success with the hootchies on the surface so begs the question - did you get the kokes on the surface or down riggers?

At the start I couldn't even get my lines out. Then nothing on top. Started marking fish all of a sudden at 35, 40' deep and both riggers went down. However I always have a hootchie on a rigger but it may only be 5' deep and it caught fish too. Have no idea how many long line releases we had but a bunch. Been PM'ing another and he is seeing exact same thing down at Spring Canyon.

Thanks WB! Yeah, that's a good time to use those noodle "Tica Kokanee" rods. I usually don't like to use them because I like to feel the fish but will make the sacrifice to make sure we have a couple for the grill/smoker. Sure hope these kokes stay around a season or 2. They were 9-10" in Jan and now 12-16" & chunky... incredible growth. Imagine the size of them this fall! Glad to hear you did a get a 19" koke, there's still a few lurking around.
