Hit Roosevelt out of Spring Canyon with a coworker on Saturday. Heard of some kokanee being caught towards the dam out of the boat launch so that is where we headed. Put in the water just a ways past the end of the beaches where the rocks start. One rod with a flicker shad, the other two with double d dodgers, sockeye flies with a couple UV beads and a hammered nickel blade.

First three hits were on the flicker shad, but none of them stuck. Koke rod pops off the downrigger and land a 14" kokanee. Rebait with maggot and homemade firecorn and back down to 20ft. Pops off again and 13" koke in the box. Same drill and another 13" in the box.

Had a long dry spell because I was being dumb and kept trolling towards the dam instead of staying with the fish. Decided to head back to the area we were getting bit and put 5 more in the box, biggest 15", smallest around 12". On one pass, my pole pops off and immediately the fish is screaming drag. Good fighter, made it to the net and had about a 22" rainbow. Bite turned off and we snapped one of the downrigger balls off on a pinnacle so decided to head to Plum Point.

No bites at all around the point so headed over to Swawilla basin. Decided to run flashers and spinners on flatlines, no weight, and a spinner and a nightcrawler with a 1/2oz of lead. Never even got sniffed on the spinner/worm setup but did get two more kokes and two more rainbows near the surface. Trolling speed was 1 - 1.5 mph, could have been more exact but the new Minn Kota was not playing nice. Could only get it to run on 10 on the speed stteing, which was way to fast. Salvaged the remainder of the day using the kicker motor. Anyone had issues with a Terrova I-Pilot bow mount 80lb thrust?

I have same mind kota and no issues to report that you saw. I love mine, to bad yours is not working properly.

Sound like you had a great day! Can you tell more about where the pinnacle was? Too bad you didn't have a camera! Keep a tight line!

The pinnacle was about 40 feet out from the opening to the marina downlake from Spring Canyon, towards the Spring Canyon side. In front of that bay is where we caught most of the fish.

I also have the same motor and have not experienced any troubles with mine. Maybe check the input voltage and make sure there's at least 24VDC? If one or both of your batteries is weak or undercharged I can see it causing strange problems like that.
