Yeah I know the C is closed for Springers. We fished the Willamette. I posted this as a C report since if I posted as a Willy report it would go under Oregon not Washington.

Fished Wed, Thurs and Fri on the Willamette with my Portland friend in his boat. Herring and flasher. First two days we fished in the lower river in the harbor around the Swan Island shipyard. My bud got one 15 pounds. I got a hit, I didn't see it but my herring was all chewed up. Last day we fished in the upper river near Oregon City. I got a strong hit, my rod bounced but the fish was gone when I got there. Lots of guys out fishing.

Fishchecker in the lower river said 12 for 32 boats on Wed and 8 for 12 on Thurs.

It was fun. Its history for my friend and I, we both grew up in Portland fishing for spring Chinooks in the Willy. If anybody in western Wash is interested in trying the Willy send me a PM and I'll tell you where to stay, launch and the gear to use. Oregon license is kind of expensive, 15 bucks a day.
