Fished the evening on the 4th of July, a yearly event for myself and wife, fish then watch the massive fireworks display along the lake. Caught several 3-5 lbs largemouth, no smallmouth at all, with all the boat traffic I think they went down into the channel, metered tons of fish stacked up on the bottom of the channel, normally I would fish them at a slow troll with a wally-popper and nightcrawler harness, the smallies love this on Long lake, but the Largemouth fishing was too good, once again the biggest fish came on Chartreuse spinnerbaits, all the fish were right on the bank, and hungry despite the massive number of jetskiis and the flotilla of nitro-sleds, the rest of the summer should be good fishing as the boats tend to thin out, if you cant find the fish on the bank, try slow trolling a bottom walker with a chartreuse walleye spinner of some sort with a whole nightcrawler on it, try depths of 25-35 feet of water in the channel.
