Fished out of Spring Canyon Saturday morning with three of us in the boat. Started fishing the rocks across from the launch a little after 9. I set one rod in the downrigger and started letting the other out, got ready to put it in the clip and felt a tug! Fish on and we reel in a little 12" rainbow. Wow, it's going to be fast fishing but we were after some Kokes if we could get them. Set the rods back up and nothing for the next hour or so. We fished the shoreline all the way down to the dam, the can line and back up the southern shoreline. We didn't even get a sniff. We pulled gear and headed back upstream.

We decided to fish the draw in front of Swawilla Basin. This paid off for us as we caught the rest of our fish and spent the day fishing here. Majority of the fish came in at 18 to 23 feet on the downrigger. We ended up with 11, with a few being small. Did manage one 19" native and one 14" Kokanee. Most fish were caught on Kekeda flies. We trolled wedding rings, spoons, rapalas, all trying to find something else that might be working. The orange Kekeda caught 9 of the 11 with a perch pattern catching the other one and a mepps cyclops getting another. Trolling speed was between 2.0 to 2.3 and around 20 feet +\- a couple feet either way. Beautiful weather and very little wind. Great day on the water and great fish for the smoker.

Kekeda Tackle Co. is a local company offering high quality trolling flies. The perfect trolling fly for waters around the Pacific Northwest. Offered in a variety of colors at reasonable prices. 509-202-5135

Hey Dave, glad to see you got out. Was hoping to meet you at Chelan. Your flies were well represented there. Thanks for the report.

Thanks for the report Dave. Haven't been many on here on the lower end. locals are doing about the same as you did with a big kok showing up once in awhile. If the little ones didn't go over the dam I see hope for some nice kok's for the next couple years.

Nice fish, great report! I haven't been down since March but plan to make a trip soon and will try those new flies.
