Fished Sprague for walleye on the 3rd of July, hot, hot, hot!!! Temperature that is. The algea is in full bloom and the lake is coming down. Fished 5 hours, not a bite until around 6 pm, we got into the walleye finally. We had actually given up trolling for the walleye and went bass fishing just so we wouldn't get skunked, and low and behold the walleye were all up in 3-4 feet of water right along the bank, didn't catch one keeper, all the fish were 12-15 inches long, the action was cast for cast though, once I realized that it was all walleye, a 3 inch grub tipped with nightcrawler on a 8th oz jig was the ticket, motor oil, and chartreuse did the trick, couldn't find the bigger fish at all. Watch out for the rocks and gravel bars, they are numerous and you can't see them until it's too late because of the algea, I would suggest getting a rock map prior to going out, could save your boat to familiarize yourself with the lake's problem areas.
