I have been reading reports about the silver fishing at Roosevelt for some time. Finally, the itch had to be scratched. My friend Dick and I were on the road at 5 am and by about 7am we were on the water. I managed to flood the bigger motor, ( I wasn't excited or anything) so we left the Keller Ferry marina under power of the kicker. We trolled directly across the river at 30' feet on the downriggers for about 1 hour.. Nothing! Disconnected the gas line from the bigger motor and pulled it three or four times. Reconnected the gas, pumped the line, pulled and it started. BIG relief!! We motored up into the San Poil a little ways and put the downriggers down again. We trolled dodgers with pink apex and corn scented with shrimp, krill oil. 30 minutes later still nothing. I read a report by "Big Bear" and I want to thank you!! Lowered the rigger to 60 feet and immediately started to get action. The bite wasn't real fast, but we did get action. By 11 am we had our four fish and were headed home. All in all a really nice day on a beautiful river. One more thing, I do want to thank Mike Carey and crew for this site. I have been a member for a couple of years. I have always found the reports accurate and helpful. My only other thought is to thank all the fellow fisherpeople who are generous with their info. It really helps.
