The wife and I drove down to Keller and launched around 10 AM. About 5 minutes after I got the first line down I had a nice chucky 17" in the boat. After that it got a little slower but we were getting just enough bites that made it hard to move to another spot. We started along the cliff wall on the south side of the river just East of the Ferry and trolled up to Hanson Harbor and back but eventually moved to the north side of the river by that bay just east of the Sand Poil. Picked one up crossing the Sand Poil near the western buoy. Put 9 rainbow in the boat, nothing over 18", the really big ones seem to slip by me. All fish were caught using my latest delivery of Kekeda flies, most on Orange but some on a Pink one I kept out there on a leaded line with a flasher hoping for a Kokanee. Seems like 1.8 to 2.1mph produced the most strikes. We were probably running 10 to 12 feet down. Had a real nice day on the water with the wife.

Thanks for the report. Any day out with your best friend is great day. Putting 9 fish in the boat is just icing on the cake. Well done!

So good to hear the wife was able to get some fish with you. Glad the Kekeda flies worked well. Thanks for the report and great job out there!

Do you use a dodger in front off the flies?

I used a "Fast Limit" Pink Kokanee dodger on the trolling rod with leaded line and the Pink Kekeda fly. Got lazy and didn't bring any corn so no Kokanee shouldn't really be a surprise I guess. One spinning rod ran an Orange Kekeda from the gitgo. The other rod I tried various hoochies and other lures until I put the 3rd straight fish in the boat of the Orange fly and then I put out another Orange one on that. Nothing above the fly other than a small 3/8 ounce inline sinker to try and get a little depth. I had used a 5/8 for awhile but that didn't get hits and the 3/8 did, suggesting that fish weren't far from the surface.

spent 5 days fishing Roosevelt last week. Most of the time from split rock down to Lincoln.Spent the last full day fishing from keller down to Swawilla basin.Had the best luck in the basin.Best rig was trolling fly with a wigglefin action disc in front tipped with crawler on leadcore without flasher.Orange Kekedas, frisky jenny's the natural, and muddler minnows were the 3 flies used. Also used various worm harnesses tipped with gulp maggots lots of rainbows and 2 kokanee about 2 lbs a piece were taken thereby 6 of us in 2 boats.
