Long time friend Jim came over from Vancouver and we went back to Keller. Started fishing around 9 AM and it was really slow until early afternoon. We marked fish all day but they didn't hit much until the afternoon. The trolling rod with leaded line, an orange Kekeda with a couple of beads and a gold Smiley out fished every other combination we tried. Caught one nice one on a orange wiggle hoochie. Those things sure look good in the water, would have thought it would have caught more. The water temp was 60. It seemed that I got more hits in the 2.0 to 2.3 mph range than my usual 1.5 to 1.7. When the weather got a little more pleasant in the afternoon was when the bite seemed to pick up. One time we had all 3 rods go off in sequence. Got our limits and 4 were of the larger 17-18 variety but still can't find one of the big 20+ ones. Most of the 14-15 inchers were hatchery fish but not Trips. Back in late June or July I had hooked several 10 inch hatchery fish down near Spring Canyon. I was wondering if these 14s would be the same fish and they have matured that fast or would they be the previous years plants. All pretty fun anyway.
